Marlene (Dukart) Binstock passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of Hospice and her family on February 27, 2021. Marlene’s Liturgy of Word Service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Ladbury Funeral Service with Fr. Shane Campbell presiding. Inurnment will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Hradec.
Born in Dickinson, on December 20, 1949, to Rudolph and Florence (Muth) Dukart. Marlene lived her early years in Schefield, before the family moved to Dickinson where Marlene attended Trinity High School.
Through a mutual friend, Marlene met her lifelong love, Larry. They were married almost 54 years ago on April 3, 1967 in Dickinson. After a few years, she and Larry took over ownership and operation of the Binstock family farm near New Hradec. Marlene was an extremely active farm wife and could be found working side by side with Larry, doing the daily farm operations.
Marlene and Larry were blessed with five children – Melissia, Melani, Deana, Nichole and Andrew. Marlene lived for her family and her greatest joy was watching her children grow and learn. She was her children’s biggest fan and supported them in all they did. She also loved spending time with her nine grandkids and two great-grandchildren.
Marlene had a passion and talent for cooking. When not working on the farm, she worked as a cook in several restaurants before finding her career niche as the head cook for P.S. Berg Elementary, where she worked until she “retired”. Marlene spent countless hours planning meals, finding new recipes and was always trying to improve school lunches for “her kids”.
Marlene loved sharing her cooking passion with her kids and grandkids. Our fondest memories revolve around our time spent in her kitchen, learning to create budget friendly, delicious, home-cooked food. She was a Pinterest fiend and was always sharing new things that we planned to try when together.
Marlene was a quiet woman with a strong will and a quick wit that she only allowed her closest friends and family to see. She was always happy to help anyone who had a question. Marlene was very giving and gave what she could to better those around her.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, Melani (Tracy) Tescher, Deana (Jim) Carstens, Nichole (Brian) Huewe and Andrew (Nikki) Binstock; her grandchildren – Carson & Mitchell Tescher, Calvin (Madison) Carstens, Megan, Morgan & Wyatt Binstock, Makena, Hayden and Bria Huewe; and her great-grandkids – Maverick and Grayson Carstens; her 11 siblings; two sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Melissia.
Care entrusted to Whispering Pines Funeral Home of Walker, Minn. and Ladbury Funeral Service of Dickinson.
