Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald “Ron” Bleth, Dickinson will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Heart. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Ron’s angel took him by his hand and led him thru the gates of heaven on October 24. He died at home with his loving family by his side. Ron died from the cancer Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma, which he fought for two years.

Ron was born, July 15, 1949 to Joseph and Martina (Schafer) Bleth. He grew up in the Lehigh area and attended St. Joseph and Trinity High School.

In the summer of his teen years, he lived with his grandpa and grandma Schafer in Glen Ullin. This is where he learned the trade of meat cutting and sausage making, as his grandpa owned Schafer Meat Market.

On March 29, 1972, he married his soul mate Shirleen Metz. To this union Rhonda and Tim were born. Ron wore many hats in his life. He worked for the oil company Northern Contract Service as a permit agent for 10 years. He loved this job as he was by himself driving thru God’s country and meeting so many different people who became his friends.

He worked for 8 years as a survey assistant for KLJ. He returned to meat cutting and joined Haag’s Meat Market, Dean’s Meat Market and Art and Ed Wanner’s Wurst Shop. They all became Ron’s family.

During his retirement he worked part time for the Pheasant Country Golf Course in South Heart. A job he truly loved because he had so many golfing friends. He also worked for T&L Custom Cabinetry. He loved this job, as he loved to create wood projects.

Ron always said his greatest achievements in life were his family. He was so proud of his children being productive members of society.

Ron got to fulfill a dream of hunting Elk in Montana with his son. Although he wasn’t successful in Montana, he was able to find a big elk here in North Dakota. He taught Tim how to hunt and to respect the land owner and the land.

He and Rhonda would many times take in the races. She was spoiled and could do no wrong in his eyes. He spoiled his grandchildren and helped with taking care of them. He was very active in their lives and always knew what they were up to. He called them his diamonds.

Ron had many hobbies. His wood working was beautiful. He made many items for the family. Ron was known as the neighborhood watch guy. He made sure nothing was out of place in our area, as he was always in the garage doing a project.

Ron should have been born in the 1800’s, where he could have lived in the hills and hunted and fished every day of his life. He truly had a love for God’s creations. He loved to take pictures of sunrises, sunsets, and anything outdoors.

Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirleen; daughter, Rhonda (Chad) Tormaschy; son, Tim (Renae) Bleth; grandchildren, Cassidy, Alanta, Sienna Tormaschy, Shelby and Trayson Bleth; siblings, Marlene (Al) Dukart, Janice (Willie) Schneider, and Doug (Deb) Bleth; Godchild, Becky Dukart; in-laws Edie (Dennis) Pope, David (Cathy) Metz, Carol (Rod) Merkel, Greg (Tammy Metz), and Charles Dassinger; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Allen; and his sister, Diane; his father and mother-in-law, John and Barbara Metz; buddy, Denny Lynch; and his golden lab of 17 years, Sissy.

Ron was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church and had been a former greeter for 10 years. He loved doing this as he would ‘coffee talk’ with all of the men.

Ron was a man of his word, a faithful servant of God and the best husband, father, grandpa and friend anyone could have. May he rest in peace and enjoy God’s hunting ground.
