Darrell A. Tooley, Sr., 82, Dickinson, died Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. There will be a private family graveside service held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson, with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding.
Darrell A. Tooley was born November 8, 1937 in Dickinson, the son of Percy “Pat” and Monica (Kary) Tooley. He was raised and educated in Dickinson. He married Rose Twardoski on June 4, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and to this union four sons were born, Darrell, Curt, Jay and Todd.
Throughout his life he worked as a mechanic and shop foreman at Meyer Construction and Northern Improvement until his retirement. He married Patti Jo Schmidt on December 1, 1995 at Las Vegas, Nev.
He enjoyed building race cars and attending races. He had the ability to fix most everything. He enjoyed watching old westerns and reading Louis L’Amour books.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Patti Jo; four sons, Darrell (Rhonda), Dickinson, Curt (Penny), Bismarck, Jay (Bev), Dickinson, and Todd (Carla), Minneapolis, Minn.; step-son, Chad (Rosalia) Schmidt, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, David (Bette) Tooley, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings; Carrol Tooley, Donald Tooley, and Mary Ellen Schnell.
