Marvin J. Haugland, 77, South Heart, died Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Fallon Medical Complex, Baker, Mont., with family at his side. Marvin’s wishes were for cremation to take place and that a private family gathering would take place.
Marvin J. Haugland was born April 11, 1943 at Crosby, the son of Kenneth and Agnes (Aalund) Haugland. He was raised and educated in Crosby and continued his education at Minot State University, graduating with a degree in Social Studies and Psychology.
Marvin was united in marriage to Sharon Monson on August 5, 1967 in Alexander and to this union three children were born, Larry, Brent, and Kamee. He taught school in Alexander, Tolley, Deering and South Heart. Following his retirement in 2000, he kept busy with summer jobs. He especially enjoyed working with the Soil Conservation Service, where he worked for 20 years and received the State Employee Award in 2017. As a teacher he always encouraged students to do their best.
He was a member of the Eagles. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors where he hunted, fished and planted his wildlife area on the farm in Crosby. He also played Jr. Legion Baseball and Old Pro Softball.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Sharon, South Heart; children, Larry, Crosby, Brent, Dickinson, and Kamee (Robert) Sabrosky, Gladstone; two grandchildren, Macey and Samantha Sabrosky; siblings, Keith (Laurene) Haugland, WA, Norman (Pat) Haugland, Crosby, Lois Varner, WA, Maryanne (Roger) Blanchard, Ariz., and Kris (Lloyd) Flateau, WA; uncle, Goodwin Haugland, Crosby; brother-in-law, Rocky Monson, Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Chester and Lorraine Monson; brothers-in-law, Doug Monson, Larry Ralph, and Jerry Varner. As a remembrance, plant a tree in Marvin’s honor.
