Josephine M. Krush, 90, Dickinson, died Thursday, May 7, 2020 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. There will be private Liturgy of Word Service for Josephine on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Ladury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Interment will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Josephine M. Mann was born July 18, 1929 on the family farm in Stark County, the daughter of John and Rose (Kordonowy) Mann. She attended New Hradec country school, grades 1-8 and graduated from Belfield High School in 1946. Jo attended one year of Business College in Minneapolis, Minn. She worked for Singer Sewing Machine Co., Sears Roebuck Store and later Nurses Aid training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Jo was united in marriage to Mike Krush on June 7, 1955 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Belfield. Together, they moved to Wyoming where Mike was employed with Standard Oil Co. In 1960, they moved back to N.D. to farm and where they raised four children. Jo worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson as Ward Clerk for 23 years.
She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and belonged to the auxiliary at CHI St. Alexius. She was also an active member of the Sunset Senior Citizens Center and volunteered in many other capacities in her church and community. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, word puzzles and traveling to new places. Visiting with family and friends was her greatest enjoyment.
Josephine is survived by her children, Arnold, Gail, Alan and Robert; grandchildren, Lisa, Sara, Aaron, Andrew, Kyle and Eric; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ella and Hazel; and her brothers, Sam and Marvin. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and five brothers.
