Lillian Ness went to her heavenly home on April 24, 2020. There will be a private family service held for Lillian. Entombment for Lillian will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum.
Lillian was born May 30, 1924, the youngest of four children to Andrew and Johanna Marie (Sveans) Hill of rural Arnegard. She attended country school and later resumed her education at Minot.
At Minot she met and married James P. Ness on August 8, 1948. Both she and James were baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At their church both she and James were members of the church council and served on church committees, senior center and AARP. Lillian taught Sunday School and was active in the Hospital Auxiliary, WELCA and Christian Womens Group.
In addition to being her two children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s No. 1 sports fan and cheerleader, her interests included family get togethers, cooking, baking for holiday entertainment, sewing, crocheting and embroidering.
Lillian is survived by her children, Susan (Dale) Jacobsen and Robert Ness; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James; her parents; two sisters; one brother; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Ness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Children’s Backpack Program.
