Kasper Binstock was born July 18, 1929 at the family farm, three miles east of Regent, son of Anton and Katie (Jahner) Binstock.
He attended Mauzey School #1 through the sixth grade and told everyone how proud he was of graduating Valedictorian (class of two)!
In 1951, he was drafted into the Army. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division until March 11, 1953. He shared many stories of his time spent at Ft. Hood, Ft. Benning, Ft. Knox and Japan, and was very proud of his military service.
On October 27, 1953 he married Irene Braun at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. Kasper always said he took a day off to get married and was a day behind ever since.
Kasper was a soft spoken man who enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorite past times were looking at genealogy books, collecting rocks, and visiting cemeteries. Kasper is known for his practical jokes, one liners and funny gadgets. Special times included the holidays when the entire family would gather at the farm, which was his pride and joy.
His Names Day group held a special place in his heart as they would gather to play cards and visit. His grandchildren will always remember his “army eggs”, his stories (they didn’t know whether to believe them or not) and the laughter and fun times at the farm.
His faith and love for his family always came first. He had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. He will always be our hero.
