Leo Mischel, 92, Dickinson, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at his home with family by his side. Leo’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour prior to services. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Thursday, at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.

Leo Mischel was born March 11, 1926 in White Butte, S.D., son of Joseph and Emilia (Loran) Mischel. He was raised and educated in Richardton, having finished the eighth grade at a country school.

Leo married Dolores Zimmerman on April 9, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton. At the age of 23, Leo was widowed with two young children, Nancy and Kent. Dolores died following complications from appendix surgery on September 13, 1950. Leo was united in marriage to Jeanette Anton on October 8, 1952 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Lefor. Together they had eight more children. His wife Jeanette died January 8, 2009.

He worked as a mechanic at Semerad Implement and was a serviceman for Walt Bogner working on small appliances, but for most of his life he was a farmer.

He belonged to the Eagles Club. He enjoyed making rosaries, doing beadwork, palm weaving, volunteering at St. Ben’s, Able Inc., and St. Luke’s. He loved fixing things, doing mechanic work, playing music and was a member of the Happy Sing A Longs.

Leo is survived by ten children, Nancy Schmidt, Bismarck, Kent Mischel, Texas, Gary (Vivian) Mischel, Fla., Sharon (Vince) Ruiterman, Calif., Duane (Myra Flemmer) Mischel, Fargo, Diane Mischel, Dickinson, Lori (Randal) Linder, Calif., Donald Mischel, Argusville, Dennis (Barb) Mischel, Horace, and Randy Mischel, Dickinson; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wives; his parents; five brothers; one sister; and one brother and sister in infancy.
