Georgianna Meduna, 84, Dickinson, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. A Liturgy of Word Service for Georgianna will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to service time on Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Georgianna Hanel was born December 30, 1933 on the family farm in rural Dunn County, daughter of Venzel and Amelia (Brablec) Hanel. She was raised and educated in the New Hradec area.
Georgianna married Vincent W. Meduna on September 29, 1952 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. They made their home in Dickinson where she did commercial painting for other people. Her husband Vincent died June 20, 2001. In the ensuing years, she developed a special friendship with Donald Shoch.
She was an avid gardener and loved to go camping, fishing and boating. She especially loved family gatherings and cooking wonderful meals for whomever showed up.
Georgianna is survived by her four children; LaVonne (Dennis) Rixen, Jamestown, Clayton (Kodi) Meduna, Dickinson, Darrel (Laura) Meduna, Denver, Colo., and Jeff (Heidi) Meduna, Dickinson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with one to arrive in September.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and all of her siblings.
