Eleanor Sadowsky, 90, Dickinson, died peacefully in the late hours on Friday, April 20, 2018 surrounded by her family at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Eleanor’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec, with Fr. William Ruelle as the celebrant. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Dan Tuhy presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Eleanor Bridget Volesky was born February 5, 1928, north of Dickinson on the family farm, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Karsky) Volesky. She grew up on the family farm where she attended country schools, Sts. Peter and Paul Elementary in New Hradec and Dickinson High School.

Eleanor was united in marriage to Robert W. Sadowsky on June 7, 1948 in New Hradec. They lived on a ranch south of Manning for 52 years, where she was a busy ranch wife and homemaker while raising eight children. She was an avid organic gardener and was well known for her wonderful baking and cooking skills. Her Kolaches were legend! Eleanor’s husband Robert died March 2, 1999. In 2000, she moved to Dickinson and became a resident of Benedict Court.

She belonged to the New Hradec Altar Society, the Catholic Workman, and served several years on the Dunn County Social Service board. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and loved to do word finds.

Eleanor is survived by eight children, Barbara (Roderick) Yoakum, Wenatchee, Wash., Robert J. (Sandy) Sadowsky, Little River, Kan., Bernard A. (Carol) Sadowsky, Dickinson, Christine (Mark) Bishop, Duvall, Wash., Patrick (Laura) Sadowsky, Peru, Ind., James (Teela) Sadowsky, Eagleville, Mo., David A. (Laura) Sadowsky, Manning, and Howard J. (Melissa) Sadowsky, Hettinger; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Edwin (Irene) Volesky, Dickinson, Anthony (Bev) Volesky, Dickinson, Alfred (Cecelia) Volesky, Helena, Mont., Bridget (Tom) Glaser, Dickinson, Frances (Sue) Volesky, Warrensburg, Mo., and Joseph Volesky, Rapid City, S.D.; and in-laws, Clara Volesky, Herman Hauck, and Marsha Volesky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; siblings, Charles (Patricia) Volesky, Robert Volesky, Dorothy Hauck, William Volesky, and Marian (Raymond Froehlich) Weigel.
