Claudia came into this world on October 24, 1938, the daughter of Frank W. and Anna (Roshau) Scheeler. She was the 2nd oldest of 10 children: six girls and four boys. Claudia was a graduate of Dickinson High School.

On June 16, 1958, Claudia married Michael Dowhaniuk at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a wonderful mother of one daughter and one son, and a devoted grandmother of two granddaughters and one grandson. Claudia enjoyed being a housewife. She enjoyed being there for her children and did not have an interest of working outside her home.

Her husband’s 20 years of service in the armed forces (Army) offered Claudia the opportunity to travel, which she loved. She took many trips with different wives clubs. One of her most memorable trips, since she was a devout Catholic, was to Lourdes, France. The 15 years she spent overseas were the happiest years of Claudia’s life.

Claudia and her husband moved to El Paso in November 1975. She enjoyed living in her own home, tending to her family, as well as traveling.

Claudia is survived by her husband, Michael, El Paso; daughter, Teresa Straight, Lebanon, Ore.; son, Blaine Dowhaniuk, El Paso; grandson, Justin Selke, granddaughters, Candace and Lindsey Dowhaniuk; siblings, Ervin (Sharon) Scheeler, Bernice Bardwell, Clarie Froehlich, Hilaria (Charles) Koffler, Leon (Connie) Scheeler and Diane Scheeler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings, Aron Scheeler, Clifford Scheeler and Jeannie Demaniow.
