They resided in Killdeer and later in Dickinson. She and her husband raised three children and made their home in Montana, Minnesota, and Washington before returning to Dickinson in 1978.

She will be forever missed and fondly remembered for her love of animals, flowers, and spending time with good friends, and for her devotion to her family.

She is survived by her brother, Manfred Hahn, Hamburg, Germany; daughters, Roberta (Sanford Tweedie) Harvey, Glassboro, N.J., and Shannon (Regino) Ortega, El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Tara (Gustavo Guimaraes) Harvey, Berlin, Germany, Callan Tweedie, Glassboro, N. J., Philip Ortega, El Paso, Texas, and Emercyn Journey Ell, Dickinson; and niece Daniella (Ahmad) Touhami, Bern, Switzerland.

Karin was preceded in death by her husband, Flynn; parents; son; John Ell; and brother, Hansgeorg Hahn.

The family would like to especially thank St. Benedict’s Health Center, the Hill Top Home of Comfort, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Mrs. Doris Riemer, and Ladbury Funeral Service for their care and compassion during this difficult time. The family is also very grateful for the support of Mrs. Diane Schmidt-Auch, beloved companion to Mrs. Ell and dearest “third sister” to Roberta and Shannon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society.
