Nick Lenhardt, New England, “gone fishing” surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 26, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius, Bismarck. Nick’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England, with Fr. Gary Benz as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Deacon Victor Dvorak presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.

Nick J. Lenhardt was born September 5, 1939, to Peter and Magdalena (Wayer) Lenhardt in New England. He was raised and educated in the New England area, having graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He went on to attend NDSU in Fargo, having received a degree in Agriculture.

He returned to the New England area and took over the family farm. Nick was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and sparring partner, Ellen Braun, on August 22, 1964 at St. Mary’s. Together they shared a love of farming that continued on with their daughter and granddaughters to this day.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and yard work. His girls were the light of his life.

Nick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ellen; daughter, Penny (Curt) Tooley, Bismarck; granddaughters, Tahya and Tennille Tooley; sister, Ann Roller, New England, in-laws, Dianne Sorenson, Larry (Val) Braun, Eileen (Larry) Lechler, and Bunny Held; numerous cherished nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Beeps.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doreen Arrington; mother and father in-law, George and Margaret Braun; nephews, Stuart Lechler and Richard Schultz; niece, Diana Roller; brothers-in-law, Ron Sorenson, and Dorlyn Held.
