Stephen “Steve” Ott, 65, Dickinson, died Friday, August 25, 2017 as a result of a motorcycle accident in Dickinson. Steve’s Liturgy of Word Service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Dallas Carlson presiding. Visitation will be on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a rosary and time of sharing at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will continue 8 a.m. until service time at Ladbury Funeral Service on Tuesday.
Stephen Lawrence Ott was born July 22, 1952, in Dickinson the son of Steven and Kathryn (Gawryluk) Ott. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School.
He started working in the oil fields and later began his career in construction. He was a concrete finisher and worked in other areas of construction throughout his life in Minnesota and North Dakota, eventually settling back in Dickinson. He belonged to the Minnesota Carpenters and Finishers Union.
Steve was united in marriage to Wanda Fichter on April 1, 1980, and to this union two daughters were born, Cody and Kristy.
He loved riding his Harley, and gardening. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an easy going man that enjoyed visiting and socializing.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Cody Ott, Fla., and Kristy Red Elk, Minn.; grandchildren, Brandon, Evan, Emalee and Christopher “Bubba”; sisters, Karen (Tim) Swearson, N.D., Carleen (Gerald) Padley, N.D.; nieces and nephews, Darrell, William, Steven, Olivia and Kayden; and special friends, Irene Polly and Mike Cardell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen; and niece Stephanie Crotty.
