Clayton Kerner, 61, Dickinson, died Monday, August 21, 2017 at his home. Clayton’s Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 25, 2017 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. Ellery Dykeman officiating. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Clayton Kerner was born December 4, 1955, son of Valentine “Val” and Mary M. (Thielen) Kerner in Dickinson. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1974. He attended North Dakota Highway Patrol Academy, NDSSS of Wahpeton, Eastern Idaho Technical College and he completed numerous technology certifications over the years.

Clayton was united in marriage to Deb Semerad on June 26, 1980 in Dickinson. To this union two children were born, Calvin and Valerie.

He worked at various jobs over the years to include a truck inspector with the North Dakota Highway Department, pressman at Service Printers, Computer Services Supervisor at Consolidated Telecom, computer and network support at SBM Inc., owner of CallSmart/SmartNex and prior to his retirement he worked as a network and data engineer at CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a devout motor head. Since retirement he has taken up welding and enjoyed getting his garage ready for doing projects. Football and the Green Bay Packers were the top of his list and “Game Days” were special. As were spending everyday with his Soul Mate, Debra, for the past 12 1/2 years.

Clayton is survived by his children, Calvin Kerner and Valerie Kerner; soulmate, Debra Lidberg; informally adopted son, Joshua Lidberg; brothers, Clyde (Bonnie) Kerner and Kevin (Audrey) Kerner; nieces and nephews, Kandace (Cory) King, Jason (Denise) Kerner, Casey (Kristen) Kerner, Kayla (Lance) Passaro and Kimberly (Ross) Whitmore; numerous great nephews and nieces; and special friends, Cal and Patti Faiman. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
