Frederick Ole Fleener, 93, Woodbury, Minn. went to his eternal rest on Friday, June 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Woodbury. There will be a Masonic Service at Ladbury Funeral Service at1 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dick Rinearson officiating.

Fred was born on September 1, 1923 to Glenn E. and Clara O. (Horsager) Fleener in Berlin, N.D. at home. Fred graduated from Mahnomen High School, Mahnomen, Minn., in 1942. He enlisted in the Navy in June 1942 where he served in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Montpelier for the duration of WWII.

He graduated in 1951 from ND Agricultural College (NDSU) and went to work in Belfield where he met Judith Brett and they were married in Minot on December 27, 1951. They moved to Amidon in 1957 where Fred served as county extension agent for Slope County. Then in 1962, they moved to Dickinson where Fred took a position with the First National Bank, retiring from banking in 1984.

He bought a ranch in Minnesota and he also had a career in real estate appraisal during this time. He was a member of the Dickinson United Methodist Church. He was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman. He also spent many hours gardening at their cabin in northern Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judith; six children, Rebecca Donovan, Mandan, Glenn (Tacy) Fleener, Ft. Meyers, Fla., Carmen Haugen, Minneapolis, Minn., Brad (Elisa) Fleener, Eagle River, Alaska, Juliene (Max) Kirschbaum, Westminster, Colo. and Marianne (Moneer) Rana, Woodbury, Minn.; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was very proud of the successes of his six children and felt that to be his greatest accomplishment.
