Gloria Schmidt, 70, West Fargo, formerly of Dickinson, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Villa Maria Care Center, Fargo. Gloria’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Gloria Jean Hoff was born January 31, 1947 in Dickinson, daughter of Erwin and Mildred (Magelky) Hoff. She was raised on a farm south of Richardton. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from Richardton High School in 1965. She married Tim Schmidt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on June 26, 1967. They lived in Dickinson where they raised their five children and moved to West Fargo in 2007.
She belonged to St. Anthony’s Club, enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading, visiting family and friends, fishing, being outdoors and enjoying wildlife. Gloria especially cherished her time with her children and grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Tim; children, Scott (Tanya) Schmidt, Fargo, Shawn (Kristi) Schmidt, Fargo, Shane (Marisa) Schmidt, Dickinson, Stuart Schmidt, West Fargo and Shantel (Justin) Hecht, East Grand Forks, Minn.; grandchildren, Allison Schmidt, TJ Schmidt, Noelle Schmidt, Dallas Schmidt, Caleb Schmidt, Ella Schmidt, Brooke Hecht and Kylie Hecht; mother, Mildred Hoff, Dickinson; sister, Pat (Prace) Ramsdell, Minot; brothers, Jim (MaryAnn) Hoff, Arvila and Harvey (Janal) Hoff, Richardton. She is preceded in death by her father.
