Barbara Weiler, 92, Dickinson, died peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Patrick Ojedeji as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.
Barbara Olheiser was born July 29, 1924 on the family farm 14 miles southwest of Dickinson in the Schefield area. She was one of 15 children born to George and Beata (Heidt) Olheiser. She was raised and educated in the Schefield area.
Barbara was united in marriage to Louie Weiler on February 8, 1948 at St. Pius Catholic Church, Schefield. They farmed in the Shefield area until moving to Dickinson in 1955. She worked at Frankie’s Café in Dickinson during her teen years and then from Dec. 1, 1968 to Sept. 8, 1986 she worked at Dickinson Nursing Center.
She belonged to the St. Pius Verein. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, yard work, baking, following the news, and embroidery. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by six children, David C. (Ione) Weiler, Dickinson, Duane M. (Nelda) Weiler, Mandan, Joanne (Jerry) Faulhaber, Dickinson, Marvin L. (Meri) Weiler, Fargo, Sharon (Bob) Privratsky, Dickinson, and Marlene (Leon) Kuntz, New England; daughters-in-law, Tillie Weiler, Lebanon, Ore., and Kathie Weiler, Mandan; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Leona Reisenauer, Jean (Doug) Frisbee, and Cecelia (Don) Samson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie on November 29, 1980; her parents; sons, Terry and Gary Weiler; granddaughter, Katie Ann Weiler; grandson, Ryan Weiler; brothers, Joe, Ralph, George, Christ, Tony and Al; and sisters, Tillie Urlacher, Ida Kuntz, Rose Kitzan, Agnes Olheiser, and Beata Schwindt.
