Christopher James Okland, 24, South Heart, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 as the result of an accident in the oil field. Christopher’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 7 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 with Rev. Dick Rinearson officiating, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Chris was born April 14, 1992 in Dickinson, the son of Elden and Phyllis (Seilinger) Okland. He was raised and attended school in South Heart graduating in 2010. He earned a welding degree from DSU. He started working at the age of 16 at Dane Chemco. Over the years, he worked at MBI as a Gauger and C&D Oilfield Services as a Pumper.

He enjoyed assembling model trucks and cars, fishing, boating, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, spending time with family, especially his nieces, MaKenna and Kaylynn, playing board games, barbecuing with family and friends, camping, concerts, playing pool and golfing.

Chris is survived by his mother, Phyllis Okland, South Heart; sister, Nicole Okland, South Heart; half-sisters and brother, Kathy Crisp, Stacey and Steven Okland; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, grandma Leona Seilinger and cousins, and many great friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Elden; grandparents, Earl Seilinger, Hilmer and Janet Okland; his uncle, Duane Okland.

Chris will be remembered for his smile, generosity, willingness to help others, compassion, the great outdoors and the love for his family and friends.
