Emanuel J. Auch, 92, Dickinson, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Emanuel’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Matthew Herron officiating. Interment will take place at the First Baptist Cemetery, Hebron. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be on Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Emanuel Jacob Auch was born January 27, 1924 , at the family farm near Willa, north of New Leipzig, the son of Karl and Sadie (Mohr) Auch. He was raised and educated in the area, attending country school 1 1/2 miles from home.
Emanuel was a farmer throughout his life, either helping other farmers or working his own place. He moved to Billings, Mont. and went to work during the beet harvest and eventually working at Rocky Mountain Furniture for eight years. He returned to North Dakota and bought a farm near Burt, and along with farming he also enjoyed carpenter work and woodworking.
Emanuel was united in marriage to Klara Enzi on September 28, 1955 in Hebron. They continued to farm and when health problems arose, they decided to move into Dickinson in 1993. He continued making the trip to the farm to work the garden and spray for leafy spurge. Klara died on May 19, 2001 following a three year battle with cancer. Emanuel met Diane (Henn) Schmidt and the two were united in marriage on May 2, 2003, with him becoming a husband, step-dad, and grandpa all at once. They have shared a good life together spending time with family and especially little grandchildren.
Emanuel is survived by his wife, Diane; four step-children, Chad, Kim, Megan and Jarad; grandchildren, Waylon, Adam, Kal, Dustin, Shelby, Jackson, Jordy and Jace; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Auch; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Klara; his parents; and sibling and spouses, Amanda (Bennie) Frey, Frieda (George) Barry, Lenora Siewert, Viola Auch, Theophil (Anna) Auch, Rhynold (Esther) Auch, Arvin (Bernice) Auch, Edwin (MaryAnn) Auch, John Auch, and Rudolph Auch.
