Harley R. Schumacher, 36, rural Halliday, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at his home. Harley’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. MT, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as the celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Martin’s Cemetery, rural Dodge. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. MT, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m., to 9:30 a.m. MT. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. MT, Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.
Harley Richard Schumacher was born August 25, 1979 at Dickinson, the son of Richard and Paulette (Karlson) Schumacher. He was raised and educated in the Halliday area, graduating from Halliday High School in 1998. He went on to attend North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton, where he earned an Associate degree in welding.
He was a welder throughout his life, having worked in Carson, at Steffes Mfg. in Dickinson, and Melroe in Bismarck. With his dad he also operated a manure hauling business, and following the death of his dad, he opened Highway 200 Welding. He had also worked with several oil companies. Most recently he was enjoying his work at Dakota Gasification Plant in Beulah.
Harley belonged to the saddle clubs of Dodge, Richardton, and Hebron, along with being a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, welding, riding horse, roping, being outdoors, and guns and shooting.
Harley is survived by his daughter, Kennadee, Binford; his mother, Paulette; three sisters, Tina (Russ) Kahl, Mandan, Tera (Curt) Kahl, Belfield, and Rita (Justin) Tystad, New Castle, Wyo.; and several special nieces and nephews, Madison, Cortney, Kaylie, Tyler, Gracie, Peyton, Hogan, and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his dad, Richard; grandparents, Leonard and Mary Karlson, Leo and Eva Schumacher; and uncles, Ray Schumacher, and Greg “Jiggs” Karlson.
