Frederick John Ewoniuk was born in Dickinson on November 5, 1955, the son of Matt and Pearl (Haverluk) Ewoniuk. He was raised on the family ranch north of Belfield, where he attended Whitetail Country School and later graduated from Belfield High School in 1974. While in high school he had participated and excelled in basketball and football.

Following graduation he moved to Colorado, where he started his career in the oil field. He married Cindy Schaff on June 26, 1975 in Loveland, Colo. They moved back to North Dakota in 1977, and to this union they were blessed with three wonderful children: Eric, Kristin and Taylor. He continued his career in the oilfield until his passing. He was working with Measurement Services of Belfield.

Fred’s passion for life was second to none. He was always up for his next adventure. Whether that was a 16lb walleye, the 200 plus muley, the hole in one, the 300 bowling game or the royal flush. Fred had a lot of loves that started with his kids and moved down to his grandkids, nieces and nephews. He was always there for the programs, basketball and football games, and state golf meets. In 2015, Fred met Becky Bensen and became smitten. They shared a love of fishing, bowling and life together. Fred had met his match. Fred will be missed by many, his family, friends, all his fishing, hunting, golf, bowling, and poker buddies. Always remember the good times and how he met everyone with that unforgettable smile.

Fred was survived by his love Becky Bensen and her son, Bryson; his three children, Eric (Nicole) Ewoniuk, Kristin (Jerry) Sevier, and Taylor (Cory Shores) Ewoniuk; his mother, Pearl Ewoniuk; beloved grandchildren, Jayden Ewoniuk, Detric Coleman, Connor Coleman and Savannah Sevier; his siblings, Larry (Julia) Ewoniuk, Terry (Roger) Walter, Sy (Diane) Ewoniuk, Patricia Ewoniuk, John (Shelly) Ewoniuk, Matthew Ewoniuk and Jeanette (Josh) Buckman; along with numerous special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Matt; infant brother, Augustine Ewoniuk; and son-in-law, Kelly Coleman.
