Jack Eugene Olds, 88, formerly of the Richardton area, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Fargo. Services for Jack will be held at a later date, with burial to take place in Taylor.
Jack was born October 30, 1927 in Star Township, Antrim County, Mich., to Harold and Lillian (Emerson) Olds. He was one of 12 children.
Jack joined the Merchant Marines in 1944. He was in the Air Force from 1946 to 1949. He then joined the Army in 1953 and retired in 1970. After retiring from the Army he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until 1989 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He really enjoyed sports, baseball being his favorite. He also cherished spending time with his family.
Jack married Roberta (Imel) Borst on August 29, 1968. He and Roberta had one son, Daniel “Danny” in 1970.
He is survived by three step-children, William “Billy” (Syndee) Borst, St. Ignace, Mich., Rebecca “Becki” (William) Wilkins, Enterprise, Ala., and Deborah “Debby” (Rick Wilhelm) Harrington, Halliday; one brother, Roger (Nelline) Olds, Florida; one sister, Emily (Norm) Rotenberg, Florida; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; their son, Danny; his parents; and nine siblings.
