June M. Stockert, 81, Dickinson, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at home with family at her side. June’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Shannon Lucht as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Monday, with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
June M. Stradinger was born December 31, 1934 at Dickinson, the daughter of Carl and Rose (Hoffer) Stradinger. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School.
June was united in marriage to Alex Stockert on November 14, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. They lived in Kansas and Oklahoma for a period of time prior to returning to the New England area where they took over the Stockert family farm in 1958. Together they operated the farm for the next 42 years.
She had taught computer classes for six years at St. Mary’s Grade School in New England. She was active in their church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister, and reader at Mass. She was an Alter Guild Leader and Slope County 4-H Leader, along with serving on the SW District Health Unit Board of Health, and volunteering her time at St. Benedict’s Health Center.
She had a great love for the Lord, and this showed in her love of sewing, raising flowers, gardening, yard work, attending and supporting her grandchildren in their activities, cooking, meeting people and making new friends. She enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, playing cards, quilting, traveling and playing golf.
June is survived by her husband, Alex; their five children, Karen Stinehart, Mandan, Diane (Gary) Paul, Dickinson, Ginger Steinman, Bismarck, Patrick (Sandy) Stockert, Bismarck, and Sandy (Kelly) VanderVorste, Bismarck; 10 grandchildren, Tim (Tami) Stinehart, Jeremy Stinehart, Tracey (fiancé-Mariana) Paul, Kelly (Rachel) Magelky, Ryan (Sara) Steinman, Alexis Steinman, Tony Stockert, Carly Stockert, Hayley VanderVorste and Kayla VanderVorste; eight great-grandchildren; Sisters, Betty (Roger) Smith, Jamestown, Viola (Rod) Caudle, Billings, Mont., Jeanette (Richard) Sagmiller, Mandan, and Margie Stradinger, Mandan; brothers, Richard (Jeanette) Stradinger, Rapid City, S.D., Lester (Vonnie) Stradinger, Crookston, Minn., and Fred (Donna) Stradinger, Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law, Geneva Stradinger, Bismarck; and brother-in-law, Walter Kilzer, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert (Pauline) Stradinger, and Harold Stradinger; sisters, Rose Kilzer, and Evelyn (Ted) Groll.
