George M. Morel, 85, Dickinson, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at his home. George’s Liturgy of the Word service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Lefor. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.

George was born August 18,1930 in Stark County on the family farm, the son of Carl and Maria (Martz) Morel. He was raised and educated south of Dickinson. He was the third generation to have lived and run the family farm.

On April 24, 1952 George was united in marriage to Marie Rebel at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, south of Richardton. They had seven children together and had celebrated 63 years together.

George spent all his life on the family farm taking care of his cattle and land. He retired from milking in 2002, but still worked with his son, Gary, outdoors taking care of the chores. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

George is survived by his wife, Marie; their six children, Dennis (Margie) Morel, Evans, Ga., LaVon (Garry) Zelfer, Black Hawk, S.D., Gary (Bonnie) Morel, Dickinson, Charles (Kristin) Morel, Elizabeth, Minn., Lora (Harry) Globstad, Rapid City, S.D., and Eric (Carla) Morel, Dickinson; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Pete (Mary) Morel; and sister, Betty Janes. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Curtis; brothers, Carl, Tony, and Nick Morel; sisters, Cathy Rew and Margaret Bergenheier; grandson, Dwight Morel; infant brothers, Nick and Andrew; and infant sisters, Regina, Rose Marie, and Katherina.
