Lorraine M. Rebel, 82, Richardton, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Richardton Health Center. Lorraine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Abbot Brian Wangler, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, south of Richardton. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Lorraine Marie Portscheller was born November 4, 1932 at Richardton, the daughter of John and Bertha (Kelsch) Portscheller. She was raised and educated in Richardton and the surrounding area.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Tony J. Rebel on June 26, 1950, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, south of Richardton. Together they farmed and raised their family on the Rebel Family Farm.
She belonged to the Christian Mothers, Eagles Club, and Kirvie Dance Club. She loved to cook, sew, embroider, read, work on cross word puzzles, play cards, dance, sing (she even sang on the radio in Dickinson), family picnics, and namesday gatherings.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Tony; their ten children, Randy (Alvina) Rebel, Meridian, Idaho, Cindy (Gordon Barrett) Dohrmann, Taylor, Charlotte (Julian) Zimmerman, Richardton, Brenda Rebel, Richardton, Russ (LaVonne) Rebel, Hebron, Rick (Susan) Rebel, Taylor, Rob (Brenda) Rebel, Bismarck, Rodney Rebel, Richardton, Sonya Schank, Bismarck, and Rory (Robyn) Rebel, Taylor; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Richard Portscheller, Mandan, Bob (Beatrice) Portscheller, Dickinson, Marie Sandberg, Beach, Arlene Woroniecki, Point Harbor, N.C., Don Portscheller, Sharpsburg, Ga., Harvey (Edythe) Portscheller, Hoberg, Wash., Johnny (LaDonna) Portscheller, Taylor, and Roger (Linda) Portscheller, Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Russell Dohrmann.
