Judy Vranna died January 21, 2015 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held January 26, 2015, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation for Judy will be on Sunday, from 11 am until 5 pm at Ladbury Funeral Service. A rosary service will be held at 4 pm., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will also take place at St. Patrick Church one hour prior to the service.

Judy Fischer was born November 19, 1919, in a sod house on her paternal grandparents homestead south of South Heart in Stark County. Her parents were Seb (Sebastian) and Rose (Sticka) Fischer.

Judy was raised and educated in Stark County, graduating from country school. She moved to Dickinson in the 1930s. She married John M. Vranna on August 16, 1937. Together John and Judy owned and operated the Dickinson Sporting Goods Store, retiring in 1973.

Judy enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She also loved to hunt and fish, spending many weekends enjoying the North Dakota outdoors while enjoying those two hobbies. She especially enjoyed her many years of volunteering at the Trinity Mardi Gras, coffee at Bogey’s, Hardees and other places in Dickinson, and visiting with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband John on July 9, 1984; her parents; her stepmother Helen (Wetzstein); one brother, John; two sisters, Abbie and Lena; two half brothers Andy and Mike, and a half sister Marge.

She is survived by half brothers: Frank (Theresa) and Nick (Barbara), Twin Falls, Idaho; Tom (Sharon), Filer, Idaho; Jim (Ellen), Phoenix, Ariz.; half sisters: Maryann Staudinger, Sturgis, S.D.; and Clara Fischer, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many friends throughout the community.
