Eva Schwartz, 97, Richardton, died Friday, October 10, 2014, at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Eva’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a rosary & time of sharing at 6 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Eva Schneider was born July 1, 1917, the daughter of Nicholas and Katherina (Weber) Schneider, on the family farm east of Glen Ullin near the twin buttes. She was raised on the farm east of Glen Ullin.
She was united in marriage to Albert Schwartz on February 27, 1933, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. Together they farmed north of Richardton with their sons. Following the death of Albert in January 1999, Eva remained on the farm. She enjoyed taking care of all her family by continuing to cook and bake cookies. Her favorite pastime was watching all the wildlife, playing cards, talking with family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Eva is survived by her sons, LeRoy (Evelyn) Schwartz, Richardton, and Rick (Sharon) Schwartz, Dickinson; her daughters, Glory Ann (Don) MacDonald, Kelseyville, Calif., and Delores Sommers, San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, two brothers, and one granddaughter.
