Nancy Scheeler, 57, Dickinson, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. Alexius Health Center, Bismarck. Nancy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 4 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ron Wolberg presiding.

Nancy Scheeler was born December 2, 1956, at Dickinson, the daughter of Edward “Eddie” and Stella (Kordonowy) Scheeler. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating with the Class of 1975, from Trinity High School. Nancy has made Dickinson her home her entire life. She was united in marriage to Jim Nelson on September 8, 1978.

She had worked as a housekeeper, at LoAnn’s Marketing, and most recently at Wal-Mart, until her health began to fail. She loved to go fishing, work in the garden, cooking for friends and family, decorating, and shopping. Nancy especially loved spending time with her friends and family, listening to music, laughing and spending time with Wyatt’s dogs, Carlos and Elwood. She was very proud of her sons, and was a very attentive mother.

Nancy is survived by her three sons, Westen (Heather) Nelson, Dickinson, Wyatt Nelson, Dickinson, and Wade Nelson, Homosassa, Fla.; seven sisters, Jackie (Mark) Henderschott, Carrollton, Texas, Paulette (Don) Hall, Liverpool, N.Y., Linda Meyer, Lawrence, Kan., Carla (Mark) Kolling, Bismarck, Pam Zierolf, Houma, La., Jody (Dale) Dolechek, Dickinson, and Tracy (Richard) Arndorfer, Mandan; two brothers, Rick (Karla) Scheeler, and Pat (Paula) Scheeler, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy is also survived by her Nelson family; Tillie Nelson, Vern (Barb) Nelson, Dale (Ashley) Nelson, Carla (Randy) Zillich, Gordon Nelson, and ex-husband, Jim Nelson, all of Dickinson; many nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Joe Zierolf; also, Carl O. Nelson; and O.J. (Hellen) Nelson.
