Frank J. Morel, 89, Gladstone, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, with his family at his side. Frank’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Frank J. Morel was born on August 7, 1925 in Dickinson, the son of Dominick and Kathirina (Krug) Morel. He grew up on the family farm two miles north of Gladstone and attended rural school several miles north of the farm. On May 12, 1954 he married Regina Twardoski at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. He continued to work on the family farm and worked several other jobs including driving cement truck for the construction of Interstate 94 and Western Livestock. In 1963, he began work at the Husky briquetting plant. He retired from there after 27 years in 1990.
He enjoyed woodworking and took pride in his yard and garden. He was especially proud of the Hungarian peppers he raised from seed year after year. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years Regina; children Karen (Jim) Leintz, Gladstone, Lee Morel, Othello, Wash., Delores (Wayne) Baer, Richardton, Jeff Morel, Gladstone, Tim (Kathy) Morel, Dickinson; grandchildren Twila (Justin) Tormaschy, Dickinson, Tyler Leintz, Dickinson, Travis (Michelle) Leintz, Dickinson, Michael Baer, Richardton, Ashley Morel, Dickinson; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret Anton, Dickinson, Irene Morel Childers, Miles City, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Eva Tormaschy, Anna Birgenheier, Katie Klemm Pudil, Marie Schwartz, Betty Kubas, Barbara Schwartz Sebastian, Rose Pechtl, infant sister Regina; two brothers Carl Morel and Joe Morel.
