Donald Taraba, 84, formerly of Belfield, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Sun City, Ariz. Donald’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. William Ruelle as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Military flag presentation will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post #144.
Donald Taraba was born April 5, 1929 on a farm near Belfield, the son of Laudie and Mary (Haverlock) Taraba.
Donald married Shirley Stiller in February of 1958. He had brought the 1st oil well to North Dakota, served in the United States Army, and had worked at the Chevy garage in Belfield. The family moved to Fargo, where he worked for North Port Texaco for six years, and then at Nodak Supply until health reasons forced his retirement. He and Shirley have spent the past several years in Arizona.
Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley; their three daughters, Shelly Jendro, Fargo, Debra Taraba, Peoria, Ariz., and Patty (Brad) Halvorson, Fargo; six grandchildren, Casie Jo Ewart, Jamie Jendro, Josh Halvorson, Christopher Winjum, Justin Winjum, and Ryan Greenfield; and two step-great-grandchildren, Jamie and Kaylie Kindem. He was preceded in death by his parents.
