Clinton Elmer Rierson was born September 29, 1932 at Strongs Prairie, Wisc., the son of Gerhardt and Mary (Voeller) Rierson. When he was a child the family moved to Silva. He worked with his dad on the farm and had also worked for other area farmers as well. He moved to Bottineau and then Harvey where he worked at an implement dealership, prior to moving to Gladstone.
Clinton was united in marriage to Alice Goldade on January 7, 1952 in Montana, and four children were born to this union. Clinton had served honorably in the United States Army from January 14, 1953 to December 23, 1954. He later joined Mavis Rixen in marriage on November 25, 2003 at Manning.
While living in Gladstone and later moving to Dickinson in 1980, he worked for Modern Implement, and following a 40 plus year career with them, they closed their doors. Clinton then went to work for the City of Dickinson street crew. He made a move to Rugby in 2012 and returned to Dickinson in 2014 to enter the St. Luke’s Home, with cancer eventually taking him on June 6th.
He loved spending time with his family, special friends, and grandchildren. Working on tractors and mowers, going fishing, tinkering on vehicles, helping others out brought him great joy. Clinton enjoyed playing dice games and bingo.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Mavis, Rugby; their children, Cynthia (Charles) Tully, Piedmont, S.D., Judy Harrington, Dickinson, and David Rierson, Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his twin sister, Marcella Risovi, Harvey; his brother, Robert (Margret) Rierson, Oregon City, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews; and his step-children, Carol Salwey, David (Nadine) Salwey, Don (Karen) Salwey, Judy (Terry) Enro, Pam (Mike) LeVoir, Gary (Michelle) Salwey, and Diane Salwey.
