Casmir C. Kytoichuk, 96, Belfield, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Evergreen Inn, Dickinson. Casmir’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. William Ruelle as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Belfield. Military honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post 144. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the church.
Casmir Carl Kytoichuk was born March 16, 1918 at Hebron, the son of Joseph and Pauline (Czop) Kytoichuk. At the age of one year, the family moved to Belfield, and he has lived there his entire life. Casmir joined the United States Navy and had served honorably from January 1942 to October 1945.
He returned to Belfield where he went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad for 11 years, Theodore National Park for 10 years, RA Prather & Sons in the oilfield for five years, and following five years with Stark County, he retired.
He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at Trapper’s Kettle, spending time with his nieces and nephews, playing cribbage with Dave Schaff, and visiting with his friends.
Casmir is survived by his sister, Pauline Dorval, Dickinson; and several very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad in 1945; his mom in 1946; and infant brother, Peter; infant sister, Bergeda; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Francis Tessier; brother, Joseph Kytoichuk; and brother-in-law, Art Dorval.
