Leora Knopik, 62, South Heart, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. Alexis Medical Center, Bismarck. Leora’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Fr. William Ruelle as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Heart. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Leora Eberts was born October 3, 1951 at Dickinson to Antone and Leontine (Elis) Eberts. She was raised on the family farm south of South Heart. After graduating from South Heart High School in 1969, she attended Dickinson State College for two years, majoring in accounting. Leora married Joey Berger in June 1972. While attending college, Leora worked at the Ivanhoe Inn as a waitress and then as a secretary at the Farmer’s Union of South Heart for 26 years, she later worked as a bookkeeper/service writer for Letvin’s, the SW Correctional Center, and West Plains Implement and as a receptionist for Maus & Nordsven PC. Leora married Keith Knopik on May 30, 1991 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson.

Leora was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, South Heart. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, playing softball and volleyball, and golfing. She cherished the time she had with her family especially time with her grandson, Zack.

Leora is survived by her husband Keith, South Heart, one son, Shawn (Jessie) Berger, one grandson Zack Berger, Belfield, and one sister, Leota (Ray) Kudrna, Plover, Wis., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Marvin Eberts. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a memorial be given in Leora’s name to the American Heart Assoc., 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Il 60674.
