Lonny F. Custer, 51, Bismarck, formerly of Billings, Mont., died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the University Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn. Lonny’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.
Lonny F. Custer was born August 22, 1962 to Larry and Ardella (Kuntz) Custer, at Dickinson. He graduated from Belfield High School in 1981.
On August 18, 1989, Lonny married Bonnie Roller. They made their home in Billings, Mont., where he worked for Koch Asphalt. Later he went to work for CHS Asphalt terminal in Hardin, Mont. In 2012, Lonny and his family transferred to Bismarck, where he continued to work for CHS Asphalt in Mandan.
Lonny enjoyed tractor pulling, demolition derbies, snowmobiling, drag racing, stock car racing, rebuilding antique snowmobiles, hunting, camping and fishing, and spending time with his family. His latest adventures include his Harley, Wildcat X, painting, and woodwork. Lonny played General Custer in the reenactment of the Little Bighorn Battle in Hardin, Mont. He truly lived his life to the fullest. He never let anything stop him, he fought to the end.
Lonny is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bonnie; his son, Lorean; his daughter, Teal; parents, Larry and Ardie Custer; brothers, Leon (Deb), Scott (Mandy), and Shawn (Shelby); sisters, Stacy (Jeff) Pokorny, and Shelby Custer; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Elliouse Custer, and John and Veronica Kuntz; and numerous aunts and uncles. From Lonny, “I Love you more!”
