Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Heidecker, 82, of Dickinson, formerly of Halliday, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant and Abbot Brian Wangler, OSB as con-celebrant. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will take place from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with rosary and time of sharing taking place at 7 p.m., visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Agnes passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.
Agnes Schulz was born on February 3, 1931 in Havelock, the 6th oldest of 18 children born to Frank and Anna (Kuntz) Schulz. She attended and graduated from country school near Richardton. Agnes provided child care for local neighbors, later worked at Excel Cleaners and Woolworth’s in Dickinson.
On January 14, 1956, she married Fred Heidecker. The couple made their home on the Heidecker homestead 15 miles southwest of Halliday, where they farmed and they raised their seven children. Agnes was a dedicated and extraordinary mother, who worked on the farm and grew a large garden with Fred. She loved music, dancing, baking, cooking, fishing, traveling, coin collecting, and visiting family and friends. Agnes especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Fred retired to Dickinson in 2004 and continued growing a large garden and tinkering around the yard.
Agnes is survived by her husband, Fred; seven children, Duane (Debbie) Heidecker, Gillette, Wyo., Diane (Dale) Hauck, Richardton, Debby (Bob) Buchholz, Mandan, Denise (Chuck) Votruba, Avon Lake, Ohio, Danette (Eddie Forster) Neidhardt, Dickinson, Doretta (Curt) Naumann, Taylor, and Delinda (Lenny) Kaufman, Regent; 17 grandchildren, Bobby Joe (Megan Borchert) Heidecker, Keisha (Michael) Wood, Tracey (Missy), Dallas, and Dominic (Amanda) Hauck, Clay Heidecker, Hanna and Nicole Buchholz, Charles, Russell, Stonewal, and Raquel Votruba, Tyrell Neidhardt, Matthew and Maylyn Naumann, Jared and Elizabeth Kaufman; six great-grandchildren, Karsen Stroh, Brooks and Kerynn Hauck, Westie Hauck, Beau and Sunny Grinsteiner; 13 siblings, Viola Sand, Pauline (Albert) Lantz, Gladys Rummel, Mary Ann (Charles) Hoff, Delores (Elmer) Wiege, Geraldine (Phil) Grayson, Dorothy (Bernie) Buresh, Jim Schulz, Mike (Margaret) Schulz, Kathleen Lindeman, Ralph (Alice) Schulz, Inez (Merlyn) Hamann, and Jackie (Ralph) Messmer; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Helen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Elsie Maershbecker, Alfred Schulz, Bernice Harrington and Willie Schulz, brothers-in-law, Herman Sand, Matt Maershbecker, Donald Rummel, and Ron Lindeman, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimers Association.
