Richard A. Hepsak, 63, Dickinson, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Abiding by Richard’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a service of remembrance/funeral service at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Pastor Janel Kolar officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Richard A. Hepsak was born August 26, 1949 in Dickinson, the son of Frank and Eleanor (Ray) Hepsak. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, living here until 1969. He moved to St. Paul, Minn., where he went to work for Paper, Calmenson & Steel, Co.
While living in St. Paul, he met Cindy Floan, and they were united in marriage on August 26, 1972 in Cannon Falls, Minn. They remained there until 1981 when they made a move back to Dickinson with their son Jason. Rick did sandblasting and painting, lube technician at Dan Porter Motors, and as a grounds keeper for Pat and Jill Healy over the years.
Rick belonged to the Dakota Drag Racing Association, and Dakota Western Auto Club. He loved to participate in car shows with his son, Jason and grandson, Evan in Minnesota and North Dakota. He was looking forward to sharing car shows and the love of automobiles with his newest grandson, Brandon. Rick enjoyed working on his muscle cars in his six stall garage and having coffee with his buddies. A yearly trip to the Black Hills for Kool Deadwood Nites was always looked forward to by both Rick and Cindy. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his very good friend, Wes.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cindy; their son, Jason (Karen) Hepsak, Thief River Falls, Minn.; three grandchildren, Evan, Brandon and Mercedes; two sisters, Alice (Verne) Glassman, Aurora, Colo., and Peggy (Lon) Scow, Salt Lake City, Utah; Aunt Arlene McCutchan, Maple Valley, Wash.; Great Aunt Marge Gratton, Sentinel Butte; mother-in-law, Arlene Floan, Cannon Falls, Minn.; and numerous cousins and members of Cindy’s family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Marlow Floan.
