Donna Weatherford, 83, Dickinson, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Donna’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Dickinson, interment will follow at Dickinson Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church.

Donna Dee Berridge was born March 4, 1930 at Holton, Kan. to Scott and Laura (Thayer) Berridge. Following her graduation from Holton High School in 1948, Donna moved to Atchison, Kan. where she worked and met her future husband, Walt “Bud” Weatherford. Donna married Bud on June 15, 1952 at Holton. Following their marriage, they moved to Laguna Beach, Calif. After Bud’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1953, Donna and Bud moved to Manhattan, Kan. where Bud attended Kansas State University pursuing a DVM degree. While living in Manhattan, Donna worked part time. Upon Bud’s graduation in 1961, they and their three children moved to Dickinson where Donna lived until the time of her death.

Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, was in Ruth Circle, PEO, Chapter AQ, and a local monthly book club. In her spare time, Donna enjoyed sewing, oil painting, ceramics, and various water activities; skiing, swimming, and boating; in her senior years she discovered a love and talent for golf. Donna was very artistic and creative and enjoyed giving cards and gifts to her family and friends as an expression of her love and concern.

Donna is survived by her three children, Cathy (Gary) Ladbury, Dickinson, Kelly (Bob) DeLoach, Dickinson, and David (Rebecca) Weatherford, Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, LCDR Tara (Col Gregg) Moore, Bremerton, Wash., Erin (Thomas) Tkach, Jenkintown, Pa., William, Bryce, and Tawney Weatherford, Albuquerque, N.M., and two sisters, Lauretta Fenton, Kansas City, Mo., and Edna Berridge, Holton, Kan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents; one brother, Scott; and one brother-in-law, Dwight Fenton.
