Duane R. Steffen, 47, Dickinson, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Paul, Minn. Duane’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013 at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Rev. Cal Oraw officiating. Interment will take place at the Killdeer Cemetery, Killdeer. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an informal time of sharing stories and memories of Duane at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8 a.m. to service time at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Duane R. Steffen was born October 1, 1965 in Dickinson, the son of Carl H. and Eileen J. (Wierson) Steffen. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, having graduated from Dickinson High School in 1984.
He went to work in the oil field for his brother Paul, which began a life long career working in the oil industry. Most recently he was a crew chief for Sun Well Service, Inc.
Duane had said, that if he wasn’t working, he was hunting, fishing or playing. He enjoyed gardening, canning, loved to cook and bake, playing pinochle, and especially spending time making sausage with Paul.
Duane is survived by his mother, Eileen (fiancé Elton Witt), Dickinson; three siblings, Paul Steffen, Dickinson, Susan (Greg) Knutson, Dickinson, and Glenn (Sheila) Steffen, Dickinson; nieces and nephews, Ashley, Jessica, Jasmine, Jordyn, Aimee, Dominick, Madelin, Jaime, Kayla and Chris; several aunts and uncles; and numerous friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his dad, and his grandparents.
