Veronica Kuntz, 95, Dickinson, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Veronica’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service with a Rosary & Vigil at 5 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.
Veronica Decker was born November 28, 1916 on the family farm near Schefield in Stark County of North Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Rosa (Froelich) Decker. She was raised and educated in the Schefield area.
Veronica married John N. Kuntz on June 16, 1936 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Together they farmed and raised their family in Billings County northeast of Belfield. John died on June 3, 1982 and she remained on the farm until the Fall of 1999 when she moved into Dickinson and became a resident of the Park Avenue Villa.
She was a member of the St. Anne’s Altar Society, the St. Anthony Club, a garden club and birthday club. Veronica enjoyed crocheting, painting, embroidery, baking, reading and raising her chickens. She was very creative and a women of her word. Veronica was a very spiritual women and loved to spend time in prayer.
Veronica is survived by her eight children, Darlene Bernhardt, Tuttle, Ardie (Larry) Custer, Dickinson, Shirley (Richard) Dukart, Dickinson, Carol Kuntz, Sioux Falls, S.D., Galen (Sandra) Kuntz, Dickinson, Bonnie (Mark) Johnson, Houston, Texas, Randy (Debbie) Kuntz, Belfield, and Wayne Kuntz, South Heart; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; and one brother, Martin Decker, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters and spouses, Katherine (Ralph) Brinster and infant Barbara Decker; brothers and spouses, John (Barbara), Frank (Helen), Eugene (Veronica), Ralph (Isabelle), Peter (Katie), Jerome (Anna), and Jacob; son-in-law, Gilbert Bernhardt; and sister-in-law, Maggie Decker.
