Lester A. Schwindt, 64, Medora, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home. Lester’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Jerry Sevier officiating. Interment will follow at the Medora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Military honors will follow the services at the funeral home, provided by the Dickinson Honors Team.
Lester Allen Schwindt was born July 9, 1948, in Beach, the son of George and June (Cheadle) Schwindt. He attended schools in Fryburg and also Baker, Mont., graduating in 1966. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army from May 8, 1968 to March 2, 1970. During this time he received the National Defense Service Medal, and had earned the rank of E-5
Lester was united in marriage to Alice Hutzenbiler on August 8, 1970, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield. To this union two children were born, Amy Elsie and Daniel Allen. Lester throughout his life drove truck and worked as a mechanic.
He belonged to the Belfield American Legion Post, and enjoyed working on his trucks, attending auctions, and engineering and design work.
Lester is survived by his children, Amy (Tim) Finck, Watertown, S.D., and Daniel (Melissa Olheiser) Schwindt, Dickinson; six grandchildren, Tyler Schwindt, Samantha Schwindt, Sydney Schwindt, Amber Finck, Grace Finck, and Ashton Schwindt; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Finck; one step-great, grandchild, Koda Finck; and five siblings, Tim (Kathy) Schwindt, Baker, Mont., Suzanne Johnson, Dickinson, Becky Conrad, Dickinson, Margaret (Donnie) Sonsalla, Marmarth, and Darrell (Becki) Schwindt, Fernley, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Cyle Schwindt.
