Dorothy A. Kostelecky, 87, Dickinson, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home. Dorothy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Dorothy A. Kostelecky was born in Dickinson on September 27, 1924, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Krehlik) Kostelecky. She was a lifetime Dickinson resident where she began her working career at Buttrey’s Apparel.

She married William P. Kostelecky on September 10, 1946. To this union six children were born. In addition to running a happy and loving home, she also worked for Dickinson State University where she formed many friendships until she retired.

Dorothy enjoyed her grandchildren, extended family, gardening, her robins and family dogs. She loved playing cards, bus trips with friends to Prairie Knights, and having coffee or dining with friends. She was a life time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Study Club and Catholic Daughters of America.

Dorothy is survived by her six children, Keith (Noreen) Kostelecky, Lacon, Ill., Tim (Wilma) Kostelecky, Bradenton, Fla., Peg (Gary) Smith, Billings, Mont., Sandi Jessen, Appleton, Wis., Susie (Dave) Luedtke, Bismarck, and Todd (Natalie) Kostelecky, Hurricane, Utah; one sister, Christine (Norbert) Jirges, Dickinson; 16 grandchildren, Aaron Kostelecky, Tisha Kimble, Lara Scott, Brad Scott, Jana Smith, Morgan Smith, Ceatriss Wall, Amber Jessen, Kelli Jessen, Tara Luedtke, Eric Luedtke, Justin Kostelecky, Jessica Kostelecky, Troy Kostelecky, Taliah Martinez, and Dylan Thomas; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on March 26, 1989; her brothers, Lloyd, Edmond, Clement, George, and Robert; and her sisters, Emily Splichal, Mary Krehlik, Catherine Barta, Philemon Barta, Agnes Kostelecky, Rose Zastoupil, and Mildred Kostelecky.
