Gary Lee Kadrmas, 63, Belfield, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his home. Gary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Shannon Lucht as the celebrant. Interment will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. CT, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post #144, following the Mass. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the church. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Friday at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Gary Lee Kadrmas was born October 20, 1947 in Dickinson, the son of George and Lena (Burian) Kadrmas. He was raised in the Snow area where he attended grade school and then graduated from Belfield High School in 1965. Gary served honorably in the United States Army from April 13, 1967 to January 24, 1969, and during this time he served in Vietnam from September 1967 to September 1968.
He returned to Belfield and was united in marriage to Patricia “Patsy” Logosz on June 19, 1969 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield. Gary began a 40 year career with the North Dakota Department of Transportation in August 1969, retiring in August 2009.
Gary loved to fish, hunt, and the summer time when he could spend time in the garden. He looked forward to coffee time with the guys, getting in the vehicle and just going for rides. Gary cherished his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his wife, Patsy; their four daughters, Lisa (Jason) Tormaschy, Dickinson, Jennifer Kadrmas, Dickinson, Nicole (Scott) Schafer, Dickinson, and Casey (Jack) Kessel, New England; four grandchildren, Jacob Kessel, Katie Kessel, Slayton Tormaschy and Benton Kadrmas; his mother, Lena Kadrmas, Fairfield; three siblings, Linda Gregory, Fargo, Larry (Joanne) Kadrmas, Belfield, and Gailand (Charlene) Kadrmas, Fairfield; and his in-laws, Vicky (Ray) Karras, Fairfield, Angie Chruszch, Belfield, Marina (Hugh) Hlebechuk, Belfield, Charlotte (Darryl) Heim, and Bob Sturgeon, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, George; brother-in-law, Emil Gregory; father and mother-in-law, Matt and Katie Logosz; and in-laws, Bill Chruszch and Bernie Sturgeon. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Zion, Ill.
