Virginia E. Wilcox, 73, Dickinson, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at her home. Virginia’s Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Dan Freed officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Virginia E. Buel was born April 26, 1938, at McIntosh, S.D., the daughter of Carlisle and Evelyn (Snodgrass) Buel. She was raised on the family farm near McIntosh where she also attended country school through the 8th grade. She lived in Miltonvale, Kan. with her grandparents where she attended high school, graduating from Miltonvale Wesleyan High School on June 4, 1956. Virginia attended the Bismarck School of Nursing, graduating on August 20, 1959, and becoming a Registered Nurse on October 20, 1959.

Virginia married Burton Wilcox on April 8, 1959 in Mandan. She was employed at the Bismarck Hospital, St. John Hospital in Fargo, and St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Burt; their three children, Joni Volesky, Dickinson, Laura (Corky) Marsh, Dickinson, and Ronald (Jessie) Wilcox, Corona, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Amanda (fiance-Kyle Stacy) Wilcox, Matthew Volesky, Nicole Volesky, Eric Volesky, Christopher Wilcox, Kyle Wilcox and Jeremy (Lindsey) Marsh; one great-grandchild, Gunnar Marsh; and one sister, Carolyn (Tom) Olson, Fergus Falls, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Larry, Jim and John.
