Robert S. Radant, Dickinson, died Friday, June 10, 2011 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Robert’s funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Inurnment will be at 12 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military honors will be provided by the Dickinson Honors Team. Visitation will Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to service time on Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Robert S. Radant was born June 4, 1922 at Spring Lake, Minn., to Silas and Ruth (Whitten) Radant. After graduating from Humbolt High School, St. Paul, Minn., he attended two years of college at the University of Minnesota, majoring in physical education. Robert enlisted in the US Navy in October 1942 and was honorable discharged in December 1945. Robert married Rosemary Lennon at St. Paul in December 1943. After his discharge, Robert went to work for Pillsbury for a short time. In 1949 he began working for Brown & Bigelow which caused them to move to Dickinson. Robert retired in 2009.
Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosemary; three sons, Robert (Mary), Ocala, Fla., Richard (Leslie), Frisco, Texas, and John (Cosette), Fountain Hills, Ariz.; five grandchildren; Melissa, Michael, Scott, Nicole, and Jackeye; three great-grandchildren; Tristan, Alexis, and Jack.
Robert was preceded in death by two sisters. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a memorial be made in Robert’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
