Irene Decker, 74, Dickinson died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Irene’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

Irene Dukart was born March 2, 1937 in Dickinson, the daughter of Philip and Margaret (Dolechek) Dukart. She was raised and educated south of Dickinson in the Schefield area.

Irene married Anton “Tony” R. Decker on October 25, 1955 in Schefield. They made their home in Dickinson. Irene worked at K-Mart from 1985 to 1994, following the onset of her disability. She became a resident of the St. Luke’s Home on February 12, 2003.

Irene belonged to the St. Anthony Club and the VFW Lady’s Auxiliary. She loved to go dancing, play cards and bingo, working in her garden and loved to read. She was known for her baking and cooking, and for her famous German potato salad and caramel rolls. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Tony; their seven children, Curt (Pat) Decker, Dickinson, Steve Decker, Sidney, Mont., Sharon (Ken) Howard, Alexander Manitoba, Canada, Cary (Sharon) Decker, Dickinson, Linda (Tom) Baugh, Russellville, Ark., Glen (Ruth) Decker, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nancy (Jon) Kostelecky, Dickinson; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Pauline Berger, Raymond (Margi) Dukart, Richard (Shirley) Dukart and Tony (Nancy) Dukart, all of Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Bill Berger. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
