Mildred Margaret Jilek was born November 8, 1922 on the family farm in Billings County to George and Anna (Kotsalick) Jilek. After completing her education at Snow School she helped on the farm until she married Mike Burian on December 31, 1943. She and Mike helped on Mike’s family farm near Manning for a year before moving to their own farm and ranch north of Belfield. Mildred lived on the farm until 1990 when she moved to Dickinson. In 2008 she moved to St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.
Mildred enjoyed dancing, baking, crocheting, embroidery work, and gardening. She really enjoyed caring for her yard, nearly every summer day she could be seen pushing her lawn mower. But time spent with her family was her most enjoyable past time.
Mildred is survived by one son, Micheal, Belfield; two daughters, Etta (Marvin) Sorge, Baldwin, and Sandy Kuch, Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Jesse Orgaard, Cam Orgaard, Bucky Olson, Karmin Olson, Casey Kuch, C.W. Kuch, Rena Vacha, Zachary Olson, and Clay Heidecker; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rose Filipi, Tillie Filipi, Georgianne Karsky, and Mae Krpoun.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Beverly Orgaard, one grandson, Layton Olson, four brothers and three sisters. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a tree be planted in her memory.
