Elizabeth Hlebichuk was born April 3, 1931 to Peter J. and Olga (Osadchuk) Hlebichuk on the farm north of Belfield. She had attended Casper country grade school near home and when the family moved to Medora she attended the DeMores school thru the 8th grade. Betty then attended and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson.
Betty married Nick Morel at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church at Lefor, and to this union 10 children were born. Betty loved first her Heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ. Her children always were the love of her life. She liked planting flowers, reading her Bible and she was a great Prayer Warrior-having spent many a night on her knees for her children or someone in need. Her children always knew they could come to her when ever they needed a shoulder to lean on. Betty was called “Mom” by many of her children’s friends and she treated them like her own children.
Betty is survived by eight children, Marlo Morel, Christine, Marvin Morel, Dickinson, MarJane Morel, Dickinson, Marlin (Diane) Morel, Aberdeen, S.D., Martin Morel, Dickinson, Marcel Morel, Kingsland, Texas, Mardel Morel, Wahpeton, and Marvel (Lori) Morel, Dickinson; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Hlebichuk, Apache Junction, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 14, 2010; her parents; two sons, Marty and Mark; her sisters, Ruth Grudniewski and Martha Shakelford; and several aunts and uncles.
