Mary V. Bratberg, 86, Richardton, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Richardton Health Center, Richardton. A Memorial Service for Mary will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Rev. Tim Voth officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Mary Emerick was born March 7, 1924 in Westmoreland County, Whitney, Pa., the daughter of Valentine and Mary (Gaca) Emerick. She married Joel B. Torstenson on June 11, 1945 in Baltimore, Md., and then was united in marriage to Oscar D. Bratberg on October 9, 1968 in Reno, Nev.
Mary lived in the Max, Dickinson, and Gladstone areas since moving to North Dakota. She was a stay at home mother until her first husband died. She then worked at Western Livestock, the Post Office in Gladstone, and eventually retiring as the Post Mistress in Rhame.
Mary was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiallary, was active in Cub Scouts when residing in Dickinson. She loved to fish, sew and paint. Her art work was important to her and she loved to read.
Mary is survived by two sons, Gene Lee Torstenson, Dickinson and Tomas Val (Connie) Torstenson, Gladstone; daughter-in-law, Judy Torstenson, Dickinson; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Curci, Luxor, Pa. She was preceded in death by both husbands, and two sons, Joel Reynold Torstenson and Eric John Torstenson.
