Richard J. Wolf, 86, Dickinson, died Monday, July 12, 2010 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Richard’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant and assisted by Deacon Ron Keller. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Dickinson Honors Team following the mass. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Richard was born October 3, 1923 in Dickinson, the son of Alex and Barbara (Muehlburger) Wolf. He attended Versippi grade school, St. Joseph’s grade school and Dickinson High School. Richard served honorably in the United States Army from May 12, 1943 to January 9, 1946. Having been part of the Pacific Theater, serving in Saipan, the Philippines, Okinawa and Hawaii. He received the Bronze Service Star and earned the rank of Corporal at the time of his discharge.

Richard married Mary Emmil on August 23, 1943 in Watsonville, Calif., and besides his military time he spent his entire life in the Dickinson area. He had worked for Schilla Hardware for 28 years, Cenex for three years, and Newby’s Ace for 21 years prior to retiring. During this time he had received the Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Recognition Award.

Richard was a lifetime member of the Elk’s and Knights of Columbus, a member of the Eagle’s, the Lion’s Club, and the VFW. As a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church he served as an usher for 35 years. Richard took much time and pleasure working in his yard and garden, loved to read, and especially spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his six daughters, Linda (Arnie) Binek, Dickinson, Sandra/Sister Richardé Marie, SSND, Fort Yates, Janice (Dan) Hagan, Albany, Ore., Nancy (Del) Kussy, Dickinson, Charlene (Leo) Hofer, Dickinson, and Karen (John) Ulrich, Dickinson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Viola Stranik, Olympia, Wash., and John (Emily) Wolf, Rochester, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, Liz Wolf and Jenny Wolf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on October 31, 2002, his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
